Carsons Ribs, Chicago - Restaurant Review

Writer: Georgia LouiseGeorgia Louise

We visited Chicago in summer 2024, the Windy City being our 4th stop on our trip across America. We were warned that the city may not be particularly safe, and some of our friends expressed concern at us visiting, but we found Chicago to be a really lovely City, and one that we would definitely visit again.

Whilst visiting the City we decided to try the ribs, booking a table at Carsons Ribs via Open Table. Carsons is located on East Illinois Street, so just a 10-15 minute walk from the Magnificent Mile.

The restaurant itself was actually very nice; crisp linen covered tables, subtle lighting and comfortable booths. The staff were very friendly and super attentive making sure that our glasses were topped up at all times.

We both ordered a half rack of ribs, one with Greek potatoes and the other with potato gratin. Both meals were delicious - just a note, you are told at the outset that the ribs are not soft with the meat falling off of the bones as they are flame grilled.

You are given a wet wipe for your hands (as you will get mucky - you are encourages to pick up the ribs!) and hilariously you are also given a thin plastic bib to protect your clothes!

As we had visited Crumbl Cookies and purchased a box of 3 cookies we swerved dessert on this occasion and after a meal each and two soft drinks, I think we spent around $58 which I can safely say was the cheapest meal we ate on the whole Canada / USA trip !

I’d definitely recommend a visit; the food is delicious, your surroundings are lovely and the staff are attentive. You are also not rushed which is always a bonus!

So, wherever you decide to eat in Chicago, enjoy !

See you soon
